Making History! Meet the First Family to Become Members of the all New Utica Children's Museum!

As a thank you for showing their support immediately when memberships went on sale, we invited the family who purchased the VERY FIRST membership for an early play session! Elis DeLia is ICAN’s Graphic Design & Production Specialist and has been working on many of the museum's projects for the last year. His boys are the perfect age to get so much use out of their membership.

Here is what Elis and his wife Jessi, along with their boys Everett (3) and Sawyer (1), thought about the Museum!

The kids LOVED so many of the exhibits but the electrical wall in our Build It Up Gallery was definitely Everett’s favorite! Sawyer tried out the Toddler Forest space, which was the perfect size for him!

Mom and dad had a great experience, too!

Jessi is so excited to have little ones in this area at this time. Not only do they get to visit this amazing place for the community to learn, play and socialize with other children, it’s also colorful, bright and imaginative! Elis is excited that the museum is only four minutes from their house and that they’ll definitely be able to get full use out of their membership! They are both excited to watch how the museum will grow with both of their boys with exhibits for such a range of ages.

Elis and Jessi are excited that the learning is not just science-based but also real world-based with exhibits like :

• Seasons - showcasing our regional weather and featuring the Weather Command Station where children can change the seasons with the touch of a button.
• Build It Up - with the opportunities for kids to build actual walls with bricks, plumbing and electricity(the boys favorite)!
• Let’s Experiment - has a wall that kids can “paint” with multi colored lights and prisms.
• World Market - where cultures from around the world can be explored through food, shopping, language, music and more
• The Cove - a quiet space with soothing lighting and nooks for a little downtime
• The Climber - where kids can climb two stories high!

During the long, cold winter in Upstate NY (when some of us would like to hibernate!) they both agree that the museum gives kids and families the chance to be together, use up some energy, play, learn AND stay warm!
