Meet Our Board

Meet our Board Member - Shaila Singh

We are very excited to introduce the community to our new board members and wanted to take an opportunity for you to get to know each of them better. This is the team that will be guiding us into the future as we create and open a brand new children’s museum in 2024! We are honored and excited to have them sharing their expertise, time and talents on our board to help us through this monumental process.

Tell us about yourself, your family, your work!

I am a devoted mother of three and have been happily married to my husband for 11 years. I'm a certified kids' yoga instructor and a pediatric occupational therapist. My passions include creating art—both music and paintings—spending quality time with my family, and exploring diverse cuisines as a true foodie.

Some fun facts about Shaila:

  1. I hold a second-degree black belt in Karate.
  2. I have traveled to 31 countries, many of them with kids in tow, and continue to add to my list of adventures.
  3. I am skilled in playing the violin, piano, tabla (Indian drums), and harmonium (Indian piano), and currently learning the guitar and dilruba (Indian stringed instrument).

Why are you excited to sit on the board?

Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to working with children. As a mother of three, I have visited numerous children's museums and I'm thrilled about the new, larger-scale museum coming to Utica. I am eager to contribute, and I believe that my diverse background, perspectives, and experiences as both a mother and a professional will greatly support this endeavor.
