What Thanksgiving Means to our Team!

Meghan
Executive Director

Thanksgiving to me is special because our son Peter came home from the NICU 7 years ago right before the holiday. It also means TONS of food and spending the day with my family. We go all out every year and it's my favorite! This year we are cooking for 25 and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Every year for Thanksgiving my family gathers at my grandmother's house for dinner! We all bring our favorite foods, sit around and watch football and tell our favorite stories

Our family tradition includes the whole family getting together for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner that includes soup, lasagna as well as the whole traditional Thanksgiving feast. Before dinner we go around the table and everyone shares something in which they are thankful. After dinner the festivities include watching football and playing some board and card games!
At the end of the day...the best part of Thanksgiving
for me is being grateful for having such a close,
loving and supportive family everyday...
not only on Thanksgiving!!

A few weeks before Thanksgiving, I make donations to local organizations, contributing to our community. On Thanksgiving Day, my favorite moments are spent with my kids. We love to snuggle up together and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. After the parade, we write letters to Macy's, sharing our favorite balloons and musical performances!

Watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV is a must! There is something cozy and comforting about starting the morning off with it.

A unique tradition to my family is my dad smokes a turkey while dousing it in red wine for the entire cook. He then collects all of the drippings and gives it to my mom to make the gravy. I love that the holidays bring family and friends together this time of year. However I carry gratitude at the forefront of my outlook year round!

I always spend Thanksgiving with as many of our family as we can get together, eating and of course watching football, but our real tradition starts once Thanksgiving is over. That means it's Christmas season so we always get a tree the next day and start to make it look like Christmas.

Nothing says thanksgiving more than a family football game!

Each year, we start off Thanksgiving morning with a family football game! We gather in the backyard with a fire burning, some breakfast treats and some hot cider as we go head to head.  It's always a great way to start our thanksgiving day filled with family and friends!

My son lives in Philly and works in the restaurant industry, so he is always on duty Thanksgiving Day. Our tradition for the last handful of years has been to have dinner together after his shift at our favorite dim sum place in Chinatown. While he’s at work during the day, I take in the parade on Benjamin Franklin Parkway and walk for HOURS through gorgeous neighborhoods in Center City…
everything is open and hoppin’ in a big city like Philly and I LOVE it!
